  • 4.What is a parasite? An organism that lives in or on an organism of another species (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the other's expense.
  • 5.Types of parasite Ectoparasites These are parasites that lives on the outside of their host Examples: Fleas Lice Ticks Mites
  • 6.Types of parasite Endoparasites Large multicellular organisms, which can generally be seen with the naked eye when they are mature. They are often referred to as  intestinal worms even though not all of them live in the digestive tract Examples: Roundworms Tapeworms Hookworms Whipworms
  • 7.Types of parasite Protozoa Simple organisms, which are neither plants nor animals. Most protozoa are so tiny that they can be seen only with a microscope. Protozoa are found all over the world, on land and in water.  Examples: Parasitic protozoa are found in organisms such as ticks, flies and mosquitoes. Free-living protozoa are found in water that is contaminated with faecal matter and other wastes. The diseases they cause can be mild all the way to deadly.
